| SiteCheck Webmaster Information Page | ||||
| SiteCheck is InternetSeer's Web mapping and
monitoring system. As recommended by the Robot
Guidelines, this page exists to explain our robot's activities. InternetSeer is conducting an ongoing Survey that checks the connectivity of the Web. This information will be available to InternetSeer Subscribers and all other companies who have been a part of the Survey. SiteCheck checks selected websites at fixed intervals every day compiling averages on connect times, down-time events and down-time durations. SiteCheck verifies error events from multiple geographic locations to insure accurate reporting. If a Web site is detected to be on error, SiteCheck logs this information. When SiteCheck detects that the error has been fixed, it logs this information and sends an email recovery notice informing the Web site operator of the change. SiteCheck goes to great lengths to insure it does not access any specific Web site at a high rate or volume. InternetSeer offers both free and paid monitoring services. Click here to activate a free Web site monitoring account, or explore our other services. SiteCheck complies with the rules outlined out in The Robots Exclusion Standard. If you do not desire SiteCheck to spider or monitor web pages on your server, you can instruct it not to do so by simply adding a line to your robots.txt file similar to the following: User-Agent: sitecheck.internetseer.com Disallow: / It may take up to 36 hours for SiteCheck to re-index your robots.txt file.
